Cermeño

Description

Cermeño is an area that has a vast amount of rock, from boulders to big rock faces for sport climbing. This post is focus on a farm land of a local family that has a great amount of good quality boulders.

I came across this sector around 2020 by word of mouth saying that there were some huge boulders to be found. They were right, the boulders are just to the side of the road, there is no long trekking to be done. The landowners keep the grass low for their cattle to run around freely.

The are big boulders and nice overhangs around, the holds are small and sharp. The rock type seems to be basalt, giving the impression that the place was underwater at some point.

Although the amount of boulders that are published on this post is small, the place is very big and there is a lot of room for developping (on and off the family land), I posted the most memorable sents we have done over time but I did not remember them all to be honest.

I have spent most of my time projecting here and not really doing volume (hence the small amount of boulders problems stablished on my end), when I first arrived on 2020 I was doing 7a´s and nowadays I did my first 7c+ here on Cermeño actually.

Access

The family that owns the place are cattle and vegetable farmers. They have been very kind with us climbers since the very beginning, the doors have remained open over the years. The family is religious and very friendly.

When arriving to the place you will see the boulders from the road, you can park on the side of the road.

Enter the land by the family house main entrance, with their permission first of course. You can ask for Mr. Dionisio and Mrs. Maria from the fence.
