Asteroide

Last update: April 2, 2022

The "Asteroide" is a big boulder literally just chillin' in some Dude's backyard. It has the perfect size and overhangs for a good highball, and also a really smooth surface with no holds, main reason why the local French crusher started to chip holds and make some pretty unique man-made lines. I honestly think it's home for the hardest and coolest bouldering lines in the region and it's worth a topo.

Location

Jaramillo Abajo, Boquete, Chiriquí.

Coodernadas: 8.741081, -82.416947

Description

This single boulder has around 12 lines of great climbing. Boquete is best known for their cliffs and sport climbing but it's not everyday that you find a good boulder nearby. This place was first discovered by Cesar Melendez, a local crusher, and later developed by French climber Fabrice Dandine, who started chipping holds since the rock has perfect overhangs on a smooth surface with no holds. The place is rather for advanced climbers for the most part, not a lot of easy stuff for beginners.

Access

This boulder is inside a private property, access must be allowed by the owner first... and no, we don't know him personally. We were lucky enough to be invited by the locals for a climbing session. The boulder is pretty close to the street, as shown in the google maps location.

Rules

  1. Pick up your trash.
  2. Do not graffiti the wall.
  3. Ask for permission before accessing.
